Projects
Cambrensis has been involved in a number of pro bono projects in the healthcare sector.
We have been working with the Manchester Children’s Hospital in developing an analysis, and learning the lessons from the horrific Arena Bombing incident. This has resulted in a number of published papers and although the response on the night was magnificent, if unorthodox, this has helped the Hospital Teams be better prepared for similar challenges.
Having demonstrated the power of the complex sociotechnical system modelling techniques employed (FRAM), the hospital is looking at improving Trauma team responses and a number of other projects which Cambrensis is supporting.
Similarly, during the COVID lock down, Cambrensis was a member of the Welsh Ergonomics and Safer Patients Alliance (WESPA) using the same modelling approach to improving Emergency Department responses.
In both Cardiff and Manchester these projects are ongoing.
Training and Mentoring
To support the projects Cambrensis has been providing Training courses in the newer approaches to understanding, managing and improving patients’ safety and experience (SAFETY II) and the methodology employed (the Functional Resonance Analysis Method – FRAM)
Courses and Seminars
Cambrensis has the expertise, experience and people able to provide this training, as it has for a number of years, been organising and running the International FRAMily, and SAFETY II workshops held annually across the world.
For example, in Cardiff (2018), Lisbon, Portugal (2019), Malaga, Spain (2019), Online (2021), Edinburgh, (2022), Copenhagen, Denmark (2023), Lund, Sweden (2024) and to be in Delft, the Netherlands (2025). (For details see https://functionalresonance.com/ )
Additionally, we have run training courses in Cardiff, Epsom and St Heler Hospitals, Imperial College, Oxford University and a SAFETY II offering for Shell Aviation.
Bespoke courses can be arranged at any level from introductory to Master Classes, from classes of up to 20, to online personal tutorials.
